Job Summary:
Clausen Meat Co. is seeking a reliable and experienced truck driver to join our team, specializing in the transportation of meat products. This role is crucial in ensuring timely and safe delivery of our high-quality products to our customers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to maintaining food safety standards.
Responsibilities:
* Safe and Efficient Transportation:
* Operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) to transport meat products to various destinations, including distribution centers, retail stores, and processing plants.
* Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries.
* Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
* Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any maintenance issues.
Meat Product Handling and Safety:
* Maintain proper temperature control within refrigerated trailers to preserve the quality and safety of meat products.
* Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage or contamination.
* Secure cargo to prevent shifting during transit.
* Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Documentation and Communication:
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery receipts, mileage logs, and vehicle inspection reports.
* Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members.
* Report any delays, accidents, or other issues promptly.
* Use electronic logging devices (ELDs) to track driving hours and ensure compliance with regulations.
Customer Service:
* Provide professional and courteous service to customers during deliveries.
* Ensure accurate and timely delivery of orders.
* Resolve any delivery-related issues promptly and efficiently.
Qualifications:
* Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
* Experience driving refrigerated trailers preferred.
* Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
* Ability to operate and maintain refrigerated units.
* Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
* Excellent driving skills and spatial awareness.
* Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
* Experience with ELDs.
* Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in the meat industry or food distribution.
* Experience with specific meat handling and transport procedures.
* Forklift Certification.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to sit for extended periods.
* Ability to lift and move heavy objects. (>50 Lbs)
* Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
* Ability to climb in and out of a truck cab.
*Class A Preferred
